How To Report Google Reviews For Removal

Report, Appeal & What Actually Works (Watch 2 Minute Video Guide)

Reporting a Google review can be a lengthy process, but when done correctly, it can improve your chances of having the review removed by Google.

If you’d rather watch than read, follow the step-by-step video below that walks through the entire process.

How to report a review

First, access Google’s Business Reviews Manager here.

Make sure you are signed in with the email address that manages the Google Business Profile for the review you want to report.

Click Confirm to continue.

You should then see your business name listed on the next screen. Select your business and click Continue.

Next, you’ll see a list of your recent reviews. If the review you’re looking for does not appear, click the Business Profile link at the top and report the review directly from there.

Find the review you’d like to report and click the Report button.

The next step will ask you to select the policy that the review violates. This is a crucial step, as choosing the correct category can significantly impact whether Google removes the review or ignores the report.

If Review Radar is included in your TrueReview plan and enabled on your account, your reviews will be automatically analyzed by AI and flagged for potential policy violations. Review Radar will identify the specific policy the review may violate and provide a description you can use during the appeal process.

Once you’ve reported the review, click the Done button.

Important Next Steps

After reporting the review, go back to Google’s Business Reviews Manager.

You will now see an additional option:
“Check the status of a review I’ve already reported and my appeal options.”

Select this option and click Continue.

Select “Appeal eligible reviews” and click Continue.

Select the review you’d like to appeal and click Continue.

Next, click Submit an appeal

The step we’ve been waiting for.

When appealing a review decision, Google allows you to provide additional information to support your appeal.

At the top, include the exact policy violation category as listed by Google. Do not create your own category names, reword them, or misspell them. This field should match one of the official categories from Google’s Review Policy list.

In the field “Why do you think the policy was violated by the review in question?”, include any details that support your claim. Review Radar provides a short explanation for why the review was flagged, which you can use as a guide when writing your appeal reason.

If you have supporting documents or evidence, you can upload them by clicking the Choose file button.

When you’re finished, click the Submit button to send the appeal with your additional information.

If Review Radar later detects that the review is no longer publicly available, meaning it was removed by Google, the review will automatically be moved to the Removed tab under the Review Radar section of your Insights page.
